The 90s and 2000s were not good times for Chrysler.

the 300M was the last thing they had ready before Daimler really put the screws to them.

Sounds stupid, but handling wise, the 300M was a real contender. Was bench marked against the E39, could out slalom the A6, and was the first car to pull a G in the skid pad.

It’s still not a good car, but it’s a better effort than people give it credit for.

Sit in a 2007 Grand Cherokee, then a 2017, and ask that question again.

Not fair, that’s a Jeep!

Kidding aside, I read this as Chrysler, not FCA (present Chrysler) Daimler-Chrysler (2007) or its affiliates. That’s a different argument entirely.

It hasn’t aged well at all.

The 300M does not pull a G on the skid pad. Car & Driver has it pulling 0.82g, while the E39 pulled a 0.84 and 0.87 (new and 40,000 miles respectively). Hell, the E39 M5 could only muster a 0.90 on the skid pad, and that was damn near a supercar.

I was going to say I have only driven the 300m’s relative, Dodge Intrepid, and it handled nothing like my e39.

Well I stand corrected. My gf’s dad told me that, and he’s the type of guy who fixed a wrecked Honda Civic by chaining it to a tree and gunning it in reverse, so I gave no reason to question what he tells me.

To be fair, the 300M did stop shorter than the E39 in braking tests, and 0.02g different isn’t night and day.

I actually owned a 300m. They really arent terrible. 3.5 v6 made the same numbers as a vq, interior was cavernous, and handled really flat for its size.

Apart from the last few Turbo K-Cars, DSMs and the Viper at least. Most of those were gone by the 2000s though.
